A world of amazement and wonder that is filled with happiness and laughter as well as peace and quiet where we can go and no-one can bother us.

Sounds perfect to me......

Time for a new start....

I am no photographer, just a mum with a nice camera that I got for Christmas, a Canon EOS 550D. I am not into taking formal portraits - well not at this point anyway. I like close ups with detail, sounds like I NEED a macro lens next especially for those water droplets, but I also like to zoom right in from a distance to catch people unaware and get those one off's of rare birds in flight and interesting texture of cliff ledges to use in my mixed media artwork as backgrounds so I suppose I also need a lens for that too!

This new venture is like nothing else I have tried before, I have always had a small compact automatic digital camera, but nothing like this DSLR with 18 megapixels - so you can see I am pretty excited about this, hence why I started this blog. Not sure who or if anyone will actually read it, but I will enjoy the journey anyway.

After all that is said and done, I have absolutely no idea what I am doing :)

Quality time with nature...

Out at 'O' thought I would take myself and my new bf for a walk - got some great shots - love this tree, it looks like the tree has toes!

lookin' up...

I was talking with JP about a wide angle lens - he told me to go out and play with the lens I have to see if I can achieve the photos I want - kinda, but not quite there - there are so many different ones and they cost as much as the camera did to buy - but I think I will look into it further...

Moss...

love the detail up close on the moss - its a whole other world in there...

A bit of blue...

This lonely feather really stood out, funny how I have never been able to get close enough to the birds out there or if I do they don't keep still for long enough...

Fallen...

lots of deadwood out at 'O' makes for great shots, especially when I am bored - just as I took this shot a wallaby hopped past me about 7 meters from where I stood, don't think he/she even noticed me standing there - kinda got caught up in the moment and forgot I was holding a camera, next time...

Water droplet up real close....

Now that is AMAZING - nature is always full of surprises - no way I could see this with my eyes, even with my glasses on - love macro...

Water droplet...

This is the original photo I took - not until I zoomed in on the laptop that I realised you could see reflection of the branch in the droplet - now that is pretty cool, close up is above this post...

Beautiful way to end the day...

love a good sunset - taken at our little slice of heaven...

Mum and Bub

Could not resist the opportunity to take this photo - I am sure they were hoping I would leave and stop blinding them with the flash - mum looks like she has an injury. Some time back we had a possum who had twins but missed the chance to get a pic - but this is pretty cute...

Frangipani water droplet...

Bought some cheap macro lenses on Ebay, there are 4 of them, use them on their own or screw them all together to get extra magnification - oh yeah! I was within an inch of the flower - talk about sensitive, slightest breeze or movement - shocking pic, can't even use the tripod cause you have to get so close - so I ended up taking 268 photos - then culled most and kept 59! Not bad for a couple of hours work!! Click on the photo to see the reflection in the water droplet, pretty awesome...

Crepe Mrytle...

I think my fascination is not with flowers but with the colour, texture and the detail of whats beyond, I must say I got pretty excited when I viewed these on the computer. Using an aperture of F-10 and all of my macro lenses - pretty pleased with the result...

Murraya up close...

Just love mother nature - was a great day to be outside - this was set to F-10 seems to be this camera's sweet spot. Click the photo to see close up...

What a load of BULL...

Out at our property on the weekend we had a lovely herd of mostly bulls - they were very intent on just watching us - got a bit game and tried to get closer but they started to bolt - glad I wasn't too close when they did, talk about 'running with the bulls' no thank you! They were a healthy lot too, not sure who they belonged to, but got some lovely snaps all the same...

Leader of the pack...

This fella just kept on watching me - I fondly named him 'Fillet Mignon' LOL....

Just watching...

Taken from quite a distance just in auto mode - love how the grass is so crisp

I do believe in fairies...

Who says fairies don't exist!? I captured this one in my garden, cheeky little thing decided to pose as well - LOL!!

Taken in the AV setting with F9 and centre focus on her face & body - the detail is pretty cool - considering its not in macro mode either...

25.1.11

Dragonfly...

So this little fella has been dead in my car window for months and I have become very fond of him - he is only tiny, about 3cm down his body - I have tried using macro but didn't get him all in focus so I used the AV (aperture value) setting with a F10 and a centre focus - very happy with the detail, creepy but very cool...

Fish river at Jenolan Caves...

Having JP around we got to take lots of cool pics and was comparing all weekend - learnt so much! Ok this one was taken with F7.1, 1/1000 sec and an ISO of 320 - love that frozen water look...

That steamy look...

We must have taken hundreds of photos this day but I wanted to get that steamy look on a flowing river - so this was was using the 55mm lens F29, 1/4 sec with an ISO of 400 - oh yeah - love this pic, kinda looks dreamy...

Jenolan Caves...

Some of the amazing formations found in the Imperial Cave - used auto function with no flash, colours were true to life, with flash they lost all the pretty colours, click on image to see the water droplets, so cool...

And more...

One of the Shawls at Jenolan Caves. This one was also taken with no flash - just amazing!

A wedding..

My beautiful cousins wedding - how could I not get some lovely pics! Disappointed with quite a few of the shots, but then again I was using my 250mm lens and zooming right in - JP said I need to get a monopod, like a tripod but just one leg - think this would make a huge difference. Still learning but getting there. Was a great day for lots of practicing + got a lovely compliment from the wedding photographer about the pics I put on FB and she actually wanted me to send her a couple - that def made my day...

Macro and the frangipani...

I have a lovely bloom of frangipanis at the moment and couldn't let the opportunity pass me by.

Taken with the 55mm lens on a macro setting. Its a shame you can't choose the focus point in macro - still a pretty nice picture all the same...

Capturing emotion...

I think this photo says it all...

Who I am...

The detail you get with this camera is just awesome - this day was just set to auto mode, not bad you can see the hairs on her chinny-chin-chin - lol.

I look at this photo and instantly I am drawn back to my childhood. Mind you the image in my minds eye has a lot less wrinkles, less grey hair and they are both a lot more agile. These two women played a major role in my younger years - fondly named Queen Elizabeth and Mother Teresa - proud to have you both in my life and proud to carry your names...

5.1.11

Busy at work...

Kinda creepy up close but still amazing...

My youngest cousin...

This was a fantastic day for taking pics - the kids had been swimming and they had a sun-kissed glow about them - great catching them totally unaware...

Now that's what I'm talking about...

My favourite pic so far - not quite there yet, need to practice more with the macro, want to get those water droplets perfect - hence why I need a macro lens - might go check out Ebay...

Close up...

I can only say that this is beauty in its purest form.

These are the photos I want to get with this camera - to look beyond the things we take for granted...

Contemplation...

My baby - wish I knew what he was thinking about, probably how much he loves me - lol...

Just love this pic...

Amazing...

More rock formations...

Love how much detail you can get with this camera - and thinking this pic will come in handy for a mixed media background

♥ my camera...

Innocent eyes...

My gorgeous niece - love the innocence of this pic and when you zoom in you can see my reflection in her eye - she is so beautiful...

Poor little fella...

Love the detail on his wings, and the chomp marks...

Possible Christmas cards next year...

Still loving this camera...

Random palm frond...

Zoomed right in - love how the light works with this one, makes me want to go back to Champagne Bay in the South Pacific - ohhh, imagine the pics I could get with my new toy...

Petunia...

This photo gave me goosebumps when I zoomed into it on my computer - click the photo and you will see what I mean. Can you see the hairs on the the leaves and the centre of the flower?? How awesome am I, I mean the camera - lol...

My dad...

Just turned 70 and right at home with his little black cap and blue shirt - hmmm, what's missing?? Oh yeah, the hand rolled cigarette!

The lighting was really good this day, love this photo - man he looks just like his dad...

That's better...

Ahhh yes, that's much better Dad...

My orchid...

This little orchid lives in my kitchen window and when it flowers its lasts for weeks, just beautiful...

Angellic...

I love this little cherub - never realised all the detail until I took this photo...

Amazing little critter...

This little fella was found across the road in the bush, he was only tiny, I think a splinter puller?? Anyways, I love the texture and the colour, see this is why I need a macro lens so that I can get even closer but not too close - lol...

4.1.11

He started it....

This is the culprit behind my new addiction, mind you there were quite a few hints dropped prior to the arrival of the man in the red suit - ho ho ho - hence why there will be photos of anyone and anything but me...
